This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs:
access to and use of HiveMQ’s Sites;
use of HiveMQ services purchased under HiveMQ’s Use Terms; and
use of HiveMQ’s AI-Agents, by any user.
This AUP is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service and the Individual Use Terms (‘Use Terms”) (Collectively “Terms”). Terms not defined herein shall have the meaning set forth in the Terms.
HiveMQ provides informational resources, self-service offerings, and AI-Agents intended to help users learn about and evaluate HiveMQ and its products.
This AUP is intended to:
ensure lawful, responsible, and secure use of the Sites and self-serve Services;
protect HiveMQ, its users, and third parties; and
establish clear boundaries for acceptable and prohibited conduct, particularly in connection with AI-Agents.
When using the Sites, Services, or AI-Agents, you must:
comply with all applicable laws and regulations;
act in good faith and in accordance with the intended purpose of the offering;
refrain from harmful, abusive, deceptive, or misleading conduct; and
follow all applicable instructions and Documentation.
You are responsible for all activity conducted through your access, credentials, payment method, or submissions.
The Sites, Services, and AI-Agents are not intended for users under 18.
3.1 Permitted Use
You may use the Sites and Services solely for:
informational, evaluation, and personal use; and
lawful business or personal non-commercial purposes consistent with HiveMQ’s published materials, Documentation, and agreements.
3.2 Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Sites or Services to:
violate any law or regulation;
misrepresent your identity or affiliation with HiveMQ;
scrape, harvest, or automatically extract content or data without authorization;
interfere with, disrupt, or degrade the Sites or Services;
introduce malware, malicious code, or harmful scripts;
attempt to bypass technical, security, or payment safeguards; or
use the Sites or Services to build or support a competing product or service.
If you access HiveMQ Services under the Use Terms, you must:
use them only within the scope permitted by those terms; and
configure and operate them in accordance with the Documentation.
You may not:
circumvent licensing or usage restrictions;
reverse engineer or decompile the software except where expressly permitted by law; or
use the software in a way that materially degrades HiveMQ systems or other users’ experience.
If you submit information, feedback, prompts, or other content through the Sites, Services, social media interactions, or AI tools:
you represent that you have the right to submit such content; and
you should not submit personal, confidential, or regulated data except where a HiveMQ feature expressly permits such submission and it is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
Any use of such content is subject to the data ownership, anonymization, and AI training limitations set forth in the Terms.
6.1 Scope and Purpose
HiveMQ may provide AI-Agents, designed to help users understand HiveMQ, its products, Documentation, and related services.
These tools are intended for informational and educational purposes only.
6.2 Acceptable Use of AI Tools
When using AI-Agents, you must not:
rely on AI-generated outputs as legal, technical, security, or professional advice;
submit personal data, confidential information, or regulated data unless expressly permitted;
use AI tools to generate misleading, deceptive, abusive, or harmful content;
attempt to manipulate, exploit, or reverse engineer AI systems or models; or
use AI tools in a manner that violates applicable law or HiveMQ policies.
6.3 Nature and Limitations of AI Outputs
AI-generated responses:
may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated;
do not constitute binding guidance, representations, or commitments by HiveMQ; and
should be independently verified before being relied upon.
AI-Agents do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning individuals.
6.4 Enforcement Across All Access Models
HiveMQ may enforce this Section 6 against any user of AI-Agents, regardless of whether access is obtained through:
the Sites,
Services, or
Enterprise access
6.5 Prohibited AI Uses and Legal Compliance
You may not use HiveMQ’s AI-Agents in any manner that would cause HiveMQ to develop, deploy, enable, or facilitate AI practices that are prohibited under applicable law, including the EU Artificial Intelligence Act.
Without limitation, prohibited uses include using AI tools to:
manipulate, deceive, or coerce individuals in a manner likely to cause harm;
exploit vulnerabilities of individuals or groups;
evaluate, score, classify, or profile individuals in ways that result in unlawful, unfair, or harmful treatment;
infer or attempt to infer sensitive personal attributes; or
otherwise engage in AI practices that HiveMQ has determined are not permitted.
HiveMQ reserves the right, in addition to any other rights it may have, to suspend or restrict access to AI-Agents where use reasonably appears to violate Section 6 or applicable law.
6.6 Abuse, Harassment, and Malicious Use of AI Tools
AI-Agents must be used responsibly and in good faith.
You may not use Beatrice or any other HiveMQ AI-powered tool to:
harass, threaten, abuse, or demean any individual or group;
generate content intended to intimidate, shame, defraud, or harm others;
facilitate malicious activity, including social engineering, fraud, or system abuse;
generate misleading or deceptive content intended to cause confusion or harm; or
otherwise behave in a manner that is intentionally harmful, hostile, or abusive.
PUT SIMPLY: do not use HiveMQ’s AI tools to be a jerk, to harm others, or to enable harmful behavior.
HiveMQ maintains branded social media pages and may engage with users through third-party platforms.
When interacting with HiveMQ on social media platforms, you must:
engage respectfully and lawfully;
refrain from posting abusive, defamatory, infringing, or misleading content;
avoid impersonating HiveMQ or its personnel; and
comply with the applicable platform’s terms and policies.
HiveMQ reserves the right to moderate, hide, remove, or report content, and to block or restrict users, where permitted by the applicable platform, if interactions violate this AUP or applicable law.
Data collection and processing in connection with social media interactions are governed by HiveMQ’s Privacy Policy and the privacy policies of the relevant platforms.
HiveMQ may investigate suspected violations of this AUP.
If HiveMQ reasonably believes this AUP has been violated, it may:
suspend or restrict Sites or services access;
limit or disable access to AI-Agents;
terminate accounts; and/or
take other actions permitted by applicable terms or law.
HiveMQ may take action without prior notice where necessary to protect users, systems, security, or legal compliance. Any suspension or termination of Services is subject to the applicable governing agreement, including any notice, cure, or refund rights set forth therein.
Suspected violations of this AUP may be reported to:
HiveMQ may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated where required by law.
Continued use of the Sites, Services, or AI-Agents after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
