What's New in HiveMQ 4.45?

by HiveMQ Team

The HiveMQ team is thrilled to announce the release of HiveMQ Enterprise MQTT Platform 4.45. This special HiveMQ Platform release introduces support for HiveMQ Pulse, our groundbreaking distributed data intelligence platform for HiveMQ Edge and HiveMQ Enterprise brokers.

HiveMQ Pulse unifies and contextualizes data across the enterprise for smarter decisions exactly where they matter most. With this release, our Edge and Enterprise brokers can connect to Pulse using activation tokens and begin streaming data into your unified namespace. Pulse can be used to define and govern Assets that your Edge instances can utilise for easy, top-down mapping of machine tags into your namespace. Pulse can also be used to define calculations or insights based on your data that can be republished into your infrastructure, helping you govern and contextualize your data.

Highlights

  • Connect HiveMQ Enterprise or Edge Brokers to Pulse with Secure Activation Tokens
  • Define and Deploy Asset Definitions to HiveMQ Edge Instances Using Pulse

Connect Your HiveMQ Enterprise and Edge Brokers to Pulse

Starting with HiveMQ 4.45, you can use HiveMQ Pulse to unify and contextualize data across your enterprise to power smarter decisions exactly where they matter most.

How it works

Your HiveMQ Edge and Enterprise brokers connect to Pulse using secure activation tokens to stream operational data into your unified namespace. Once connected, Pulse enables you to define and govern assets that your Edge instances can utilize for intuitive, top-down mapping of machine tags directly into your namespace. Beyond data contextualisation and governance, HiveMQ Pulse allows you to define custom calculations and derive real-time insights from your streaming data. Pulse agents distribute these calculations and insights to connected infrastructure, creating new data close to the source and establishing a centrally managed distributed intelligence layer. For more information and configuration details, see our documentation.

How it helps

HiveMQ Pulse transforms your operational data infrastructure into a distributed intelligence network that ensures the right information reaches the right place at the right time. Instead of siloed data streams and isolated integrations, HiveMQ Pulse provides a unified namespace to validate, contextualize, and enrich data before it flows to your applications and systems. Operational data can be governed and aligned with enterprise requirements, calculations can be applied in real-time to gain insights, and enriched information can be republished throughout your infrastructure from a single platform.

Create and Deploy Pulse Assets to HiveMQ Edge Instances

In tandem with HiveMQ 4.45, HiveMQ Edge 2025.16 introduces an integrated Pulse Agent with full HiveMQ Pulse Assets support. Asset mapping in HiveMQ Edge enables data sources collected at the edge to be combined into unified MQTT payloads for northbound publishing and seamless integration with our new HiveMQ Pulse distributed intelligence platform.

How it works

After you connect HiveMQ Edge to Pulse with an activation token, Assets created in HiveMQ Pulse can be assigned to specific Edge instances for mapping. The new Assets workflow in HiveMQ Edge provides clear visibility into the status of each associated Asset.

Unmapped Assets can be configured by users to publish northbound directly from HiveMQ Edge. Once Assets stream to Pulse, their status updates in the Asset list, and the Workspace view displays the Asset flowing through the Edge broker node. How it helps

When you combine Edge connectivity with HiveMQ Pulse, you get more than just data transport; you gain contextualized intelligence in motion. The ability to add context and process data in real-time can reduce delays, improve efficiency, minimize downtime, and fuel faster, data-driven decisions.
