by HiveMQ Team

The HiveMQ team is excited to announce the release of HiveMQ Enterprise MQTT Platform 4.42. This release introduces a new comprehensive Queued Messages view in HiveMQ Control Center v2, enhanced client search capabilities in the HiveMQ REST API, expanded Diagnostic Archive information, and additional useful fixes for your HiveMQ deployments.

Highlights

  • Comprehensive Queued Message View in Control Center V2

New Queued Message View in Control Center V2

With each new release, we continue to enhance the HiveMQ Control Center v2 interface. In HiveMQ 4.42, we are excited to introduce a new Queued Messages view. This update features a redesigned layout for improved visibility and deeper insights into the distribution and details of queued messages across your HiveMQ broker.

How it works

The HiveMQ Control Center v2 Overview page offers key metrics on the current state of your HiveMQ deployment at a glance. To open the new Queued Messages dashboard, you simply select the queued message graph at the top of the overview:

The Queued Messages dashboard displays the number of queued messages over time and shows the current distribution of queued messages across your MQTT client queues and your extensions/shared subscription queues:

Detailed queued message information is available for every client, shared subscription, and extension consumer:

For clients and shared subscriptions, you can select specific entries to access additional details. For example, selecting a shared subscription displays a list of the subscribed clients:

How it helps

The new Queued Messages dashboard enhances visibility into current message queues and consolidates your queued messages data in a single view. This in-depth perspective into where messages are queued helps you quickly identify performance issues at the client or extension level, such as slow message consumption or connectivity issues with extensions.

More Noteworthy Features and Improvements

HiveMQ Enterprise MQTT Broker

  • Fixed a race condition where subscriptions were not removed for clean-session subscribers who disconnect ungracefully during ongoing subscription updates.
  • Resolved an issue that could cause subscription loss during rolling upgrades from HiveMQ Platform versions 4.32 through 4.40 to a newer version.

NOTE: This issue does not affect any 4.28 LTS version.
IMPORTANT: To avoid this issue, ensure that you upgrade from the affected versions directly to version 4.42 or higher.

HiveMQ Control Center v2

  • Added HIVEMQ_EDIT_DATA_CLIENT_CONNECTION_STATE and HIVEMQ_EDIT_DATA_SESSION_STATE permissions on the Client Details page to manage access to the Disconnect Client and Invalidate Session actions.
  • Fixed an issue to improve the clarity and readability of the Dropped Messages History Summary chart.
  • Adjusted the tooltip in the Dropped Messages overview to display a range of data between two timestamps.
  • Optimized the default background animation on the login page to reduce CPU overhead.
  • Added detailed shared subscription information to the Dropped Messages view of shared subscriptions.

HiveMQ REST API

  • Added a new Client Search endpoint to enable advanced filtering and querying of MQTT clients with comprehensive search capabilities.

HiveMQ Health API

  • Expanded the Diagnostic Archive to include a JSON file of the Health API System Health information.
